Here’s The Deal with Larry Tomczak “As Assaults and Deaths Increase Should Youth Attend 3-Day Music Festivals?”

July 10th, 2017

Summer music festivals are exploding across America. Thirty-two million attend - 12 times the number of people who die annually! Average travel distance is 903 miles and festivals normally last three days.

What can be more fun than gathering music lovers outdoors with their favorite artists?

How many parents are ignorant of what occurs at these massive gatherings? Others suspect something inherently dangerous but yield permission, lifting a prayer as they reluctantly send off their youth.

Here's a handful of heavy hitter rockfests attracting millions this summer: Lockn', Afro Punk, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Moog Fest, Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, Hangout, Bumbershoot, FYF, and Electric Forest.

Festivals are all over Europe. Madrid has Mad Cool; Lisbon hosts Super Bock Super Rock; and, Germany features Melt. Sweden just pulled the plug on Bravalla (headliner was Killers) after four rapes and 23 sexual assaults.

Here’s The Deal with Larry Tomczak ” 3 Reasons the Holy Spirit Wants You to Go to Your Class Reunion”

June 27th, 2017

My wife and I just returned from driving over 20 hours round-trip to Cleveland, Ohio for my high school's 50th class reunion. We spent money on a rental car, gas, motel room for two nights and two $50 tickets.

"Worth it?"

With summer, millions get invitations to high school and college reunions. The majority decline. Why?

No. 1: we're all aging, and many are uncomfortable in the presence of those we haven't seen in awhile.

Here’s The Deal with Larry Tomczak “Evangelism Explosion Rocks Many of 65,000 at Bonnaroo”

June 19th, 2017

The seventeenth annual Bonnaroo music festival concluded recently an hour from our home. This event draws people nationwide to a field in Manchester, Tennessee for four days of music, drugs, drunkenness and debauchery.

In 2015, more than 80,000 were in attendance. This year over 65,000 gathered together in the field to resurrect this "Woodstock" experience.

Should Christians "flee to the hills" or is this an opportunity for outreach, in of all places an open field?

"But when He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they fainted and were scattered, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He will send out laborers into His harvest' "(Matt. 9:36-38).

If the over 400 dedicated Christian "laborers" hadn't responded, the 750 people converted at this year's event (plus scores who had gospel "seeds" planted in their hearts) would never have experienced a radical transformation by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Together they are going through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, which is recorded in Matthew 5–7. Our church in Nashville, Celebration Church, is on the same track and being challenged greatly!

Smack dab in the middle of this, the greatest sermon ever given by the greatest Teacher who ever lived, is this passage that is ever so relevant for us today.

Here’s The Deal with Larry Tomczak “An Open Letter to Kathy Griffin”

June 6th, 2017

Almost all of us have seen the sickening internet image of comedian Kathy Griffin holding the gory, severed head of Donald Trump. The same internet that flashed the image has the potential to carry this commentary to the perpetrator of this act. If any reader has the wherewithal to make this happen, please do so!

Dear Kathy,

There come times in all of our lives where we say and do things that we later regret. Sometimes it's premeditated and other times it's not.

Last evening at a baseball game, I sat behind friends planning to be married soon. As the game concluded, the lady said she needed to get home. I bid them goodbye and threw in, "Get her to bed quickly!"

"Ahh ... I mean ... drop her off."

Missions Radio with Don Scenck of The Tide Global Radio Ministries

May 25th, 2017
As Unemployment Reaches 90 Percent in Zimbabwe, The Tide® Radio Ministry Provides Hope Through Good News of Jesus Christ
Gospel Radio Programs Recorded in Zimbabweans’ Own Language
HARRISBURG, Pa.—The Zimbabwean reported from Johannesburg last week that according to Zimbabwe’s largest workers’ union, the country’s unemployment rate is now at 90 percent.
In a nation with such severe economic difficulties, The Tide® (www.thetide.org)global radio ministry is working to give hope to Zimbabwe’s people through the truth of the Gospel and the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Another challenge is that Zimbabwe’s aging president, Robert Mugabe, doesn’t acknowledge his peoples’ hardships, stating last week that the country isn’t fragile despite its plunging economy. Mugabe made the comments at the Africa leg of the World Economic Forum, The Washington Post reported.
The Tide ministry has been providing radio programs to remote villages around the globe to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ for over 70 years, including in Zimbabwe since 1983. The ministry also assists in the building of radio studios, provides leader-to-leader training and ensures that villagers have Bibles.
“The people The Tide ministry reaches in Zimbabwe have many needs, and we pray for them fervently, asking God to not only better their lives here on Earth, but to also open their hearts to the Gospel so that they can spend eternity with Christ,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk, who was born in what was onceRhodesia, and served as a missionary teaching and leading the Ekuphileni Bible Institute in Zimbabwe, where he lived for 28 years. “Some of their specific prayer requests include: ‘May you pray for me to get a job?’ and ‘I am facing some hardships in my life and am not married.’ We are blessed to be able to reach these people with Gospel radio programming recorded in their own language—Ndebele—so they can hear about the love of the Savior from a pastor or teacher from their own community.”
Currently, The Tide ministry works to reach people in seven countries on three continents through 24 heart languages, and even though Zimbabwe has been fairly extensively evangelized, there are still many who need to hear the Gospel message. In fact, nearly a quarter of the world’s population lives within the current range of The Tide radio programming. With nearly 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, the opportunities are tremendous.
Later this year, The Tide ministry will offer programming in its 25th heart language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Zimbabwe, India, Nigeria, Nepal, Bhutan, Albania and Kosovo, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting Gospel radio programming.

Missions Radio with David Butts Chairman of The National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer Events Spark Interest in Freedom to Pray

Non-Profit Organization Working to Stop T-Mobile from Corporate Greed

Millions of individuals around the country will meet together in both small and large groups and communities this week to lift the nation in prayer on the annual National Day of Prayer May 4. Religious leaders such as Anne Graham Lotz and Dave Butts will gather for the National Observance in Washington, D.C., from 7:30 – 9 p.m. Thursday evening.

Others who can’t gather in person will call to participate via phone on free conference call-in lines with other prayer warriors to answer the call to prayer.

However, for many of those who call in to free prayer conference lines who happen to be T-Mobile customers, they will hear a message telling them that they will be charged an additional $.01 per minute to participate in that call.

T-Mobile began adding these extra fees a few months ago, effectively curtailing nationwide prayer call participation for many of the hundreds of thousands of individuals using this technology for spiritual connection.

Freedom to Pray is a grassroots effort that was launched to bring attention to T-Mobile’s egregious actions and provide a means of response for faithful prayer warriors and the individuals and groups who support them. Individuals can advocate against T-Mobile and on behalf of keeping prayer lines free for everyone, including people of all faiths, by signing the petition at www.freedomtopray.org, and following many of the other suggestions listed on the website for taking action.

Individuals available to comment on Freedom to Pray include:

Dave Butts, president of Harvest Prayer Ministries and chairman of the board for the National Day of Prayer. He oversees multiple free prayer calls through his ministry, and knows of countless individuals who have had to give up participation in these collective gatherings since T-Mobile started adding such charges. He believes this is an attack on the right to exercise faith freely and that T-Mobile is out of line in trying to impede religious freedom.

Kay Horner, executive director of the Helper Connection and Awakening America Alliance, which encourages and helps arrange national and local prayer events and prayer conference lines to bring about spiritual transformation in our nation. Kay is passionate about helping people of faith unite in these efforts, and is greatly saddened by T-Mobile’s actions which restrict that participation.

Thursday, May 5

Local event details available here:

Freedom to Pray spokespersons are available via phone throughout the day

The nation’s first call to prayer occurred in 1775, when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation. Prayer has remained a vital element in our nation’s history, especially important to leaders such as President Lincoln, who proclaimed of a day of “humiliation, fasting, and prayer” in 1863. The official National Day of Prayer was signed into law by a joint resolution of the United States Congress in 1952, and continues today as an interfaith gathering in the Capitol and on courthouse steps around the nation.

Freedom to Pray is a response to our nation’s continued need of prayer and a way to advocate for those who participate via phone but have had this freedom curtailed by T-Mobile’s excess charges.  The Freedom to Pray website, www.freedomtopray.org, will allow users to sign an online petition expressing concern about T-Mobile’s attack on prayer, requesting a call to action. In addition, social media tools will be available for easy sharing with friends and family so that they, too, may become informed and involved in efforts to #KeepPrayerFree.

Here’s The Deal with Larry Tomczak “Defund Planned Parenthood? Let’s shut it down

May 23rd, 2017

"These six things the Lord hates…hands that shed innocent blood"

 (Prv. 6:16–17).

Barnum & Bailey Circus turned off the lights. Now it’s time for one hundred year old Planned Parenthood to follow suit as social justice advocates say dethrone it, don't just defund it!

Their latest promo video urges supporters: "Watch. Share. Slay." This mentality has no place in a civil society endeavoring to halt bullying and cultivate a culture of life.

Multiple reasons were given for ending the circus but preeminent was today's heightened sensitivity to mistreatment of animals. Technological advances prove they experience pain just like the unborn and progressive, compassionate societies don’t ignore it.

Missions Radio Interview with Tom Stewart, Author of “The Broken Scout a Story of Abuse and Redemption”

May 16th, 2017

The Broken SCOUT

A Story of Abuse and Redemption

In his tell-all memoir, The Broken Scout: A Story of Abuse and Redemption (Redemption Press, April 4, 2017), Stewart reveals never-before-told details of the childhood stolen from him by his abuser, bringing readers along his journey through the physical abuse, its psychological aftermath, cancer, divorce and the loss of a child, revealing how his faith in God led to healing, redemption, and forgiveness.

“I never imagined my own life story was going to be published with its dramatic themes of horrific abuse, chaos, and tragedy,” writes Stewart. “I embrace the compassion that my difficult circumstances have given me. I’ve learned how to understand the weary, the weak, and the faint—because I was one of them.”

Conditioned to obey without question by a proud, domineering mother, Tom was brainwashed, abused, and threatened with a gun by his Scout leader. Ten years of hidden abuse set the stage for chaos in his personal relationships, and the fallout in his family as an adult. This inspiring first-person story takes the reader beyond the abuse to Tom’s lifelong challenges of dealing with the aftermath as a man. From helping bring Boy Scouts of America to accountability and justice, to surviving cancer and family upheavals, including divorce, drug abuse, and tragedy, Tom Stewart relied on his faith in God to see him through.

There is a word in our vocabulary, as Christians, that seems to draw out the worst of our wanting to go and hide mentality more than most words. Justin goes into a wonderful detail about the word and how it can become a completely new and wonderful word to us in our Christian life.
