Parent Pump Radio – "Marijuana Edibles: Can You Spot the Pot?" (Show #26)

Marijuana edibles can come in brownies, candies, chocolate bars, chips, cookies, drinks, snacks, spreads and more.  Edibles account for nearly half of accidental exposures. About twice as many kids visited the Children’s Hospital Colorado emergency room per year in 2014 and 2015 as did in years prior to the opening of recreational marijuana stores.

Colorado’s laws on labeling and child-resistant packaging have been unable to stop an increase of young kids ending up in the emergency room after accidentally consuming marijuana.

Our Guest is Frederick Payo.  He is an expert on the subject of marijuana, marijuana edibles and substance abuse.  He is the Community Organizer for the Community Prevention Team of the Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP). He has worked in the health field for more than 20 years and has co-authored a chapter in an academic textbook that focused on the foundation of comprehensive services for persons in recovery from substance abuse/addiction.
